I think it's kinda a cross between L and Near. I kinda think Mello is too much of an impulsive person. I just really don't like Light at this point, personality, way of thinking, attitude...just everything. Though the Shinigami look cool I don't like them much beyond that.

That he can't see most color. He only sees white, black, and red. Everything else looks different shades of grey. That's also the reason he wears all white.

Volume 13 of the manga (how to read) does not menton that in nears character profile, to my knowledge. Probably just a fanfic you read.
