(this is not suitable for Cosplaying and i know that, dont send me little pieces of flame thanks!

)
For those of you who have been visiting my art thread, you'll know that ive done some technical drawings for the master sword from zelda OoT
Yesterday, i was able to start making it!
Here are pics from the construction:
From the start:
Using my technical drawings i make an accurate plan view of the sword out of cardboard (plan view is a view from above)
and heres another pic of the cardboard in more detail:
From here, i needed a piece of metal, either steel or aluminium to make up the blade and run through the cross-piece and down to the pommel at the base of the handle, here is said piece:
All the muck had to be cleaned off with white spirits to make it clean and smooth for marki and cutting. Speaking of which, here is marking, yes it is my hand
Once marked out:
It can be cut, here are two pics of what it looks like after that:
The point:
and the handle and pommel
Next order of business is the cross piece, i had the technical drawings in a 1:1 scale so i didnt need to work backwards to find out the size it should be:
Once i have the two sides of the cross-pieces cut out (one for each side of the central blade metal) i have to make sure they're the same size, requiring lots of filing in a vice:
This concludes all the work ive done today, so heres a pic of the metal version beside the carboard one, remember it isnt joined up yet, so just three pieces of cut and filed aluminium. In the next few days it should near completion!
Still to do:
Join parts
Angle-grind blade
Sharpening
Testing
Finally, here is a friend of mine NOT ME, NOTE NOT ME (i will get a pic of me with the finished product later) swinging it around. He gets bored often, i appologise...
