Most negative emotions come from looking at the darker side of life, rather than the brighter. The first thing I would recommend is to find a very close, trusted friend. Make sure that they're understanding, and then sit down privately with them and just talk.
After you've let your emotions out, you should feel somewhat relaxed. That will help you for awhile, but to solve your problem you need to keep a positive outlook on life. Rather than thinking just about your mother leaving you, you should keep the people who are still near you in mind.
Outside of this advice, you will still need to pursue a long-term solution to your problem, but without a lengthy report on this (including your mother's story, among others), I am unable to help you in crafting this. My advice should, however, help you with a short-term solution, which allows you to craft a long-term solution.
